A Christian’s Response to the Anticipated Overturning of Roe V. Wade

Written by a CE Guest Contributor

Gametime.

It is the 9th inning, and the score is in our favor. Everyone expects a huge defeat is going to be delivered to the other team - who for decades seemed to have won. For years with fervent fight, we have chipped away at their successes and are about to win. Cheers will be heard across the nation!

Here is the warning though - The season is not over, your team needs YOU!

Do you know the gameplan? Have you studied the opponent? Is YOUR uniform on?

ARE YOU READY?

This is no game, this is real life! This could be one of the most important moments in American history.

Get Your armor on.  Memorize the game plan.

This is YOUR pep talk! Don’t get lazy. Rest then get back in the game.

The other team are not the “flesh and blood” people who turn a blind eye to abortion - No!  Our fight is against “the rulers, against the authorities the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil” (Eph 6:12).

We MUST be ready, be prepared with the full armor of God wearing the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, armed with the shield of faith and protected with the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.

Staying ready, in constant prayer so that when you speak you will fearlessly speak the truth and take every opportunity to share the gospel.  This is our uniform and our gameplan. We have to be ready to LOVE. We have to be ready to have solutions.

Make no mistake, when our team wins, our opponents will become better prepared, and will play us harder. They will want to deliver the winning team a defeat.

We must stand prepared knowing some of us will face persecution but know that this is okay, because we have God on our side. This will lead to more opportunities to share the love of Christ.

In 2 Timothy 3:12-13 - Paul wrote to young Timothy, his disciple, “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”

Do not be afraid of such persecutions. Standing idle and inactive can be more dangerous to our faith than persecution as it awakens us to deepen our relationship with Christ and forces us to depend on him.

Now, more than ever, stand prepared wearing the full armor of God combining prayer with preparations staying vigilant, trusting God just as Nehemiah did (Neh. 4:9).

Praying for those who stand against us, in opposition to protecting the lives of babies in the womb, we must not allow ourselves to be tricked into quarrels - but instead standing ready. Always on guard looking for opportunities to share the love of Christ, so that others may see Him through us.

Are YOU ready?

We will have opportunities for many more wins, but a loving response to those who oppose us will open the door to share the love of Christ in this important moment. Winning souls and delivering yet another defeat to our real opponent - the devil - is our true purpose.

This, my brothers and sisters, is True Love that indeed wins! Let’s show the world, true love is sharing Christ with others.

I urge you brothers and sisters, stand prepared in fervent prayer; always.

Be ready to share the love of Christ with others.

Practical ways to LOVE once Roe is overturned. Be prepared with a game plan.

1) Volunteer or donate at your local crisis pregnancy center.

2) Get your pastor or church leadership to “adopt” a local crisis pregnancy center.

3) Give and help our friends at Human Coalition reach more women on the internet who need HOPE.

4) Be prepared to advocate and help our state’s pro-life and pro-family advocacy groups like Texas Values as they make sure they work on LIFE affirming fixes in the state laws.

5) Help us reach more people and communicate the love of God in the midst of political discourse by donating or volunteering with Christians Engaged.
