Where Is Our Nation Headed?

Giving Tribute to the Great Men and Women of God

LORD, Lead Our Nation to Repentance and Heal Our Land

For more than two centuries, our nation’s leaders throughout the echelons of government have revered our  biblically inspired laws and sought to implement the principles of governance found in Scripture. Our country was established on these precepts. However, as of this writing, more and more officeholders do not adhere to these foundational principles. Below are quotes from our founding fathers and our own Supreme Court which illustrate how far we have deviated from God’s Word. 

James Madison, 1778 

“We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our institutions upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern  ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”

Benjamin Franklin, 1778 

“Whoever shall introduce into public affairs the principles of primitive Christianity will change the face of the world.” 

George Washington, 1789 

“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” 

John Adams, 1798

“Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” 

Joseph Stalin, a ruthless communist dictator, offers his rebuttal to our founding fathers’ convictions. 

“America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and  its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within.”

United States Supreme Court, 1892 

“Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian.”  

Please know that our hope is not found in the wisdom of man. Our founding fathers knew this as evidenced by these precedent setting quotes that still inspire the hearts of men to walk in His ways. 

“Then if my people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Let Us Pray!

Heavenly Father, I ask that our nation’s spiritual renewal, the revival of cold hearts and its healing begin with me. LORD, help me humble myself and seek Your face. I desire to turn from my selfish ways, so I ask You to help me see my sin the way You do. Help me to live righteously, seeking to glorify You with my words and actions. Only  You can change my heart from the inside, so LORD, I ask You, as the Great Physician, to perform heart surgery on my stony and rebellious heart. Give me a heart that follows after You. LORD, create in me a light that shines Your mercy, grace and love like a lighthouse, warning the people in my sphere of influence of the rocky shoals of sin and idolatry. I want to be known as Your child and the apple of Your eye—I desire to be a testimony of Your relentless love and goodness; for Your Word says that it is Your goodness that draws men to repentance. Lord, according to Your Word, I ask that through my repentant heart, You will lead our nation to repentance and heal our land. I ask this in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
