CHRISTIANS ENGAGED BLOG
Keep Looking Up
Anticipation lasted for weeks. The event? Barely four minutes. It didn’t change anything.
Psalm 68 – God Is Our Salvation…Selah
The Psalmist opens with declaration (praise) of God’s might against the enemies of Israel, as easily defeated as wisps of smoke or melting wax, illustrating the commanding power of the God of Israel.
These verses tell us about God, and what he does for His people. See that those who are not believers “shall flee before Him!” implying their terror at the might of God…God is our help, that every day He helps us carry our burdens. His strength, His help for us, is new each day. He is our salvation. Blessed be the Lord who daily bears us up, God is our salvation. Selah
Psalm 60 – Restore Us Again!
No one can heal us and restore us other than God. Putting our trust in men or women to change or repair their broken states will not work.
We have to completely depend on the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Restorer of our souls – Jesus.
A Seat at the Table
He was labeled, pitied, dismissed, ignored and ostracized. Crippled was the word—and the stigma. “Disabled” and “challenged” hadn’t been invented. He was a young man with a difficult name and a difficult life.
Mephibosheth. He was royalty—once upon a time.
Psalm 56 – All Day – In God
Have you been in a situation where your enemies are hounding you ALL day long? When you feel like you never get a break from their pursuit – how does that wear you out? Whether these are physical enemies like people on your job, neighbors who don’t like you, opponents on a campaign, people on social media who constantly attack your beliefs, whatever that looks like for you in this moment – it can feel constant.
Psalm 55 – God Will Never Permit the Righteous to be Moved
How many of us during these difficult days are having to fight off restlessness? We are hearing the voice of the enemy louder and seeing the oppression coming from the “wicked” – those who are in rebellion against God. It feels like it is never ending. It is difficult. It is not easy. David felt that restlessness and oppression and voiced it in Psalm 55.
Psalm 52 – Desiring Justice and Mercy at the Same Time
The story from 1 Samuel 21 and 22 where David goes into the tabernacle in Nob, talks to the priest Abimelech, takes some holy bread from him and Goliath’s sword as well, has always been fascinating to me.
