What a week we have had here at Christians Engaged!

In a huge national battle with the IRS - we won! Read about it here.

“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.” -  Zechariah 4:6

After studying and teaching Psalm 27 last week - my faith was HIGH! But the victory came much quicker than I ever could have imagined, only 21 days from the day we appealed the decision.

When reading Psalm 28 this week in the middle of all of this - verse 8 instantly jumped out at me- “the Lord IS their strength, and He IS the saving refuge of His anointed.”

In Psalm 28 - we again have the contrast between the wicked and the righteous but this time it highlights David’s expectations on God’s response to each.

Here was David’s expectations toward the wicked and he was absolutely speaking the truth - “He shall destroy them and not build them up” (verse 5) while the righteous or “His anointed” get the promise above.

It is extremely clear to me which group I want to be in, and we see the clarity from David as well - he wants to be counted among the God-fearing people who worship God and find refuge in Him.

Again - as we look at the Old Testament scriptures through the lens of the gospel - we know that we cannot just be righteous on our own, but as we accept the One who is righteous, we become righteous. Jesus transforms us and gives us favor with God!

The promise in verse 9 is so rich and full for all of us - “bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them also. And bear them up forever.”

These deep promises knowing the character of God comes from David constantly worshiping God. He was “lifting up” his hands in His Holy sanctuary (verse 2), crying out to God and knowing his little voice was heard by a big God, and bringing his song to God on a regular basis. (verse 7)

Last Friday - I ran away by myself as I love to do to a worship night led by my friend Clayton Brooks. Clayton has a way of writing songs and leading worship where he disappears and all I see is Jesus.

It is Clayton’s humble spirit and his closeness to God that brings people into the holy place. He was singing all his new songs, but I was swept into this place of worship that I have not been in for a while.

Life has been busy with IRS appeals, Fox news appearances, radio and podcast interviews, fundraising, laying down other jobs and picking up this ministry full time. Then came the glorious victory. There has been a lot of people to talk to and many emails to return, but in that moment at the worship night, I only wanted to be with JESUS.

As I was reading Psalm 28 after this worship night- I just felt David’s yearning to be right there - safely in God’s refuge. Hidden away with His father. Abiding!

“The Lord is my strength and my shield;

My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;

Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,

And with my song I will praise Him.” (verse 7)

That was me - Friday night- after a HUGE national victory for not only our ministry Christians Engaged but the Body of Christ across America. God had helped me, my heart was rejoicing, and I used MY SONG from my heart as I sang songs on a screen written by Clayton Brooks. Through simple melodies - I gave Him glory.

God had been our refuge and in 22 days from the time we had appealed our unjust determination by the IRS- they had reversed it! It was a miracle! The nation was rejoicing, and I had my arms out - lifting up the name of the Lord giving Him all the glory.

There is nothing better. This is what we are created for.

I am NOT one of the wicked that gets what they deserve.

No- I am His anointed that He saves in His refuge. This last week He showed me that in splendid color, but when I sang my song back to Him it came even more alive. The simplicity of my song lifted - touching His heart and transforming mine.

What I am describing here is not just an experience for me alone.

No - this is also who you are - if you have received His sacrifice on the cross and acknowledge that you are His creation. He wants to bring you into that place of abiding as well.

“My beloved is mine, and I am his. He feeds his flock among the lilies.” Song of Solomon 2:16

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you[b] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” John 15:5-8

“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25

God is the saving refuge of His anointed. We are His anointed!

Let us give Him our SONG that is uniquely ours and see our hearts come alive daily in abiding with Him.
