Kelly Shackelford, Scott Turner, & Kyle Martin Join Our National Advisory Board

Christians Engaged is continuing to expand our ministry's footprint as we seek to reach and impact Christians across our nation. In addition to adapting our prayer and voting reminders and civic engagement curriculum for a national audience, we are also filling our National Advisory Board with key leaders in the ministry and government spheres.

Our National Advisory Board is comprised of men and women who share our ministry's vision for sharing the message of prayer, voting, and engagement across denominational lines, and we are honored to announce three major additions to our Christians Engaged family.

Kelly Shackelford, First Liberty Institute

Kelly J. Shackelford, Esq. is President and Chief Executive Officer of First Liberty Institute. Mr. Shackelford is a constitutional scholar who has argued before the United States Supreme Court, testified before the U.S. House and Senate and has won numerous landmark First Amendment and religious liberty cases, including the recent victory for Coach Joe Kennedy upholding his right to take a knee in quiet prayer after football games even if he can be seen by students and the general public. Mr. Shackelford was named one of the 25 Greatest Texas Lawyers of the past quarter century by Texas Lawyer, and is the recipient of the prestigious William Bentley Ball Award for Life and Religious Freedom Defense for his leadership and pioneering work protecting religious freedom.

First Liberty is one of Christians Engaged's strategic partnerships and their team travels with us for our On-Ramp seminars, and they are a key part of our conferences. The reason we do this work is to empower the Church to take advantage of their First Amendment rights and live out their faith.

Scott Turner, Prestonwood Baptist Church

Scott Turner is an associate pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, an American businessman, and a former NFL player - a cornerback who played for the Washington Redskins, the San Diego Chargers, and the Denver Broncos over nine seasons.

On the government side - Scott is also a former Texas State Representative serving from 2013-2017 and the former executive director under the Trump Administration of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council—helping inner cities and impoverished communities. This leader embodies what it means to be a Christian Engaged in America. The reason we do this work is to create more leaders like Scott, who walk with Jesus in business, government, and in ministry.

Kyle Lance Martin, Time to Revive

Kyle Lance Martin is the founder of Time to Revive - an evangelism and discipleship ministry that travels throughout the United States, awakening the Church and equipping the saints for Christ's return. TTR partners with the local Church in each community, bringing believers together across denominational lines and inspiring them to obey the Great Commission to go in the power of the Holy Spirit and make disciples. Kyle and his team have also created an international ministry with reviveSCHOOL, a two-year program of Biblical Studies courses that teaches through the Bible daily, from Genesis to Revelation. Kyle has a masters in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Doctorate degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, specializing in Outreach and Discipleship.

Time to Revive is another one of our strategic partnerships, and their team travels with us for our On-Ramp seminars and they are a key part of our conferences. The reason we do this work is to protect our liberties and bring the power of the Gospel to every heart.
