Coronavirus: Break Off the Fear!

By Bunni Pounds

I have something to say, and if you don’t want to hear it, it is probably because you most need to hear it:

It is time to break off the fear that coronavirus is producing in our world.

This is not the first time we have faced disease and terror in our nation, and it won’t be the last.

Are you afraid?

I want you to ask yourself what the real root of that fear is.

Are you afraid of death?

If so, why?

If you are afraid of death, let me introduce you to the person who can set you free from that fear - JESUS!

I am not being flippant or casual with these comments. This is not a religious game. This is reality!

This is what I know right now about my life because I put my faith in the WORD of God:

If I die - I get to be with Jesus.

Period. Awesomeness!

If I live - I get to live for Him.

This is life eternal. Awesomeness!

This is a life lived without fear. It is so full of love and so full of hope. It is lived with Jesus.

Coronavirus or any other fear, regardless of how real, can’t compete with our all-powerful God. He is bigger. He is greater.

We have nothing to fear.

Stop and pause and really think about that.

Now stop and pause and read this with me:

Isaiah 60:1-3

“Arise, shine;

For your light has come!

And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people;

But the Lord will arise over you,

And His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light,

And kings to the brightness of your rising.”

What does this section of scripture among many others in the Word of God tell us?

When the darkness gets darker - the light gets lighter.

When fear and darkness take over the earth, the people of God who walk in the light and carry the peace and joy of the Lord have kings coming to us for our wisdom, discernment, and our LIGHT.

LIGHT is greater than darkness.

Now let’s look at the section of scripture right before this in the chapter before.

 “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” (Isaiah 59:19b

Here are three eternal principles from God’s Word that define the believers’ lives that carry the light. We can trust in these principles during times of fear and tribulation.

1) The believers who carry the LIGHT - FEAR the name of the Lord.

“So shall they fear
The name of the Lord from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the sun;
When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.”
 – Isaiah 59:19

Our hearts need to be bent toward respect and awe of God in this hour. We should not be casual with our relationship with God. This is the moment to be serious and to seek the Lord for our lives and the lives of our families. A healthy fear of the Lord is great wisdom, and respect for God will make us shine because we truly understand we don’t have control over our own lives. God is in control and we yield to Him.

2) The believers who carry the LIGHT - turn from transgression.

“The Redeemer will come to Zion,
And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,
Says the Lord.” –
Isaiah 59:20

It is time to turn from transgression – the breaking of God’s law. Grace is the empowering presence of God to love Him and to keep His commandments. Again - It is not a time to be casual with God or sin; but we should turn from transgression to seek the living God. He empowers us by His Spirit to do just that, to be free from sin. Now it is time to TURN from sin and TURN to God.

3) The believers who carry the LIGHT - have the Spirit upon them and His words in their mouths.

“As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.”- Isaiah 59: 21

We must be people who allow the Holy Spirit to rest on us (being careful not to grieve Him but allowing Him to move us and convict us) and we must be people who put God’s Word into our mouth and speak it with boldness. This is not just a Sunday thing, but an everyday thing.

As we worship Him in Spirit and truth – this impacts our families for generations to come. This is the hour for the Word of God to be carried with us everywhere for our own joy and peace of mind.

Amid deep darkness, there is marvelous light! This is our hour, and this is our time!

I want to see these promises manifest in the earth, and to see God’s purposes and plans fulfilled in this moment in time, so I am going to fear the Lord, turn from my transgressions, and make sure I am carrying the Holy Spirit and the Word of God continually in my life.

Don’t be afraid – Jesus is our hope! Break off the FEAR!

Arise and shine - for your LIGHT has come!

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” -I Peter 2:9-10
