Your Christian Roadmap to Voting in Runoff Elections

FIRST: We want to ensure that you don’t forget to vote! Visit our elections page for your individual state and add the upcoming election dates on your calendar now.

If you haven’t yet taken our PLEDGE to PRAY, VOTE & ENGAGE, you may do so HERE. We will send you text messages and emails around each election as well as our weekly prayer prompts.

Find Your State's Elections Page

Note: Primaries are partisan elections. If one candidate does not receive 50% of the vote, then the race goes into a runoff between the top two candidates. In some areas, voters are not permitted to vote in runoff elections if they did not participate in the primary election. Check with your state and county elections department for the rules governing your respective election.

STEP 1: CHOOSE AND VOTE FOR THE POLITICAL PARTY THAT MORE CLOSELY ALIGNS WITH YOUR BIBLICAL VALUES

Research the platforms of those parties - simply read them. The platforms are what the parties believe, what they stand for, and their values that have been written by the delegates of that party and what they ask their leaders to uphold. Only Republican and Democratic Primaries are held by voting in most states - the others are held by convention.

STEP 2: PULL YOUR SAMPLE BALLOT FROM YOUR COUNTY ELECTIONS DEPARTMENT - THE BALLOT WILL BE BASED UPON YOUR POLITICAL PARTY OF CHOICE

You can find your County Elections Department website by using a search engine such as Google or Bing - i.e., "Dallas County Elections Department".

STEP 3: PRAY & ASK GOD FOR WISDOM TO PICK THE BEST CANDIDATE IN EACH RACE

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5

STEP 4: LOOK TO OUTSIDE SOURCES FOR INFORMATION ON CANDIDATES' VOTING RECORDS & FUNDRAISING INFORMATION

Check out iVoter Guide for non-partisan information for Christians.

For information on candidates’ finances, refer to Transparency USA.

STEP 5: SPEND SOME TIME RESEARCHING THE CANDIDATES IN EACH RACE ON YOUR BALLOT & MAKE YOUR CHOICE

  • Look at the candidate websites and their social media feeds to see where they stand on the issues

  • Look at who supports them: organizations, groups, key endorsements, etc.

  • If you spend 5-10 minutes looking at each race, you will be more prepared than most people across the country.

Don’t forget to take our Pledge and never miss another election.
